    Scripture & Explanations 

    “Her moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation ” – According ot Romans 10:9-11, the mouth will be made unto salvation.  The artist refers to wings reflecting the stars that guide him to salvation. Therfore looking outward to planets for guidance.

     

    “I stopped an old man along the way Hopin’ to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies”

    • The artist was looking for an old man to give him some ancient melodies, referring to the songs that should have chants and medleys.

    “It’s gonna take a lot to drag me away from you

     

    There’s nothin’ that a hundred men or more could ever do” – referring to the spirit that he now clings onto. He does not want to leave her (her moonlit wings). The artist now shows more to the spirit (demon) than more than 100 men could ever do for him.

     

    After this, the artist mentions blessing the rain in Africa. As a Christian, giving your life to Jesus means you honour the Lord. He blesses you, and in turn, you can bless your children or others around you. However, blessing rain over a continent can symbolise blessing ‘her,’ referring to the demon associated with water spirits, as the rain falls on Africa and the territory is claimed.

    The phrase “longing for some solitary company” hints at a wish to be alone, which is quite poetic considering wild dogs usually live in packs and rarely are alone. It beautifully captures their longing, even if, in reality, they tend to stay close together. The demonic force he is blessing now seems to be working to keep him apart from the pack, ensuring he remains separate. 

     

    “Frightened of this thing that I’ve become” – The artist has become something he does not recognise.  He sees the demon in him.

     

    Again, the artist is saying,” It’s gonna take a lot to drag me away from you” He can not be dragged away, as the spirit (demon) took him away, made promises and asked him to bless the rain in Africa. 

     

    Remember, demons do not have voices to say bless this or curse that.  It has to come from a human being.
